First Technical Meeting of TECHeese Project. 18th March 2010.

The first Technical Meeting of TECHeese Project was celebrated in the University of Studies of Sassari (UNISS) on 18 March 2010. The four research groups involved in the Project met on Sassari (Italy) to discuss several aspects related to the extraction procedure of aromatic plants, the analysis of the nutritional value of them, the X-ray technology requirements and the cheese specifications characteristics.

A Conference Press took place for the projectpresentation to the public audience. Prof. P. Luciano (Dean of Faculty of Agronomy) and Prof. Giuseppe Pulina (Department of Animal Science) gave the welcome to the attendance in the Hall of the Agricultural Faculty. They recalled the important synergy created between the most important geographical areas of production of raw sheep's milk in Europe (Castilla-La Mancha, Sardinia and Romania).

After that, Prof. Mª Isabel Berruga made a brief project presentation and every research group presents the foreseen activities for themselves, starting by Prof. Antonello Cannas, coordinator of UNISS who presented the activities planned for his group and the other Sardinian partners: FIORE and DELOGU.

INNOSPEXION introduced the main technical principles that will enhance cheese control efforts by the inspection tool set designed by its research unit.

The next day, the participants visited a sheep farm and a traditional cheese factory of the region. Finally, the University invited to the other members of the Consortium and some local producers to a working lunch for the closure of the event.
